Turning 40 felt like the perfect time to pick up a new hobby, so as is the way of things, I started looking at birds. I’m still no expert (apps and guides are doing all the heavy lifting), but bird photography has become an excellent excuse to wander the desert, stare into cacti, and get excited each time I see a new splash of feathers.
